"I have been involved in peace mediation for many years, and of course, when you act as a mediator, it all starts with dialogue, and after dialogue, you begin to set parameters. But I think in this particular case, the cold truth is that the only way to achieve peace is through the battlefield", - he said.
According to Stubb, the war against Ukraine, initiated by putin, is "too big for him to lose".
The President of Finland also commented on the peace forum.
"It is obvious that the Swiss will host it (the peace forum) at some point in the near future, but peace must be bilateral. It's not just a one-way street. They need to meet at some point along the way. But when the conditions for that will be appropriate, I don't know. Honestly, right now, we have absolutely no political dialogue with russia", - said Alexander Stubb.
