On October 26, the mine countermeasures ship "Vladimir Kozitsky" detonated in Sevastopol, as reported by the Telegram channel "Krymskiy Veter".

According to witnesses, the ship suddenly exploded in the outer roadstead of Sevastopol Bay, where it had been circling slowly for the past few days. It is reported that smoke was seen coming from the engine compartment.

"Tugboats were dispatched to the 'smoking' ship and towed it towards Streletska Bay", - the media noted.

The task of the new reconnaissance hydrographic mine countermeasures ship of project 23040G "Vladimir Kozitsky" is to search for sea mines on the seabed.

According to the publication, the explosion may have occurred on October 26 when residents in the center of Sevastopol heard a "dull explosion with vibrations".

As previously reported, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky referred to it as a historic achievement that the russian Black Sea Fleet is no longer capable of resisting in the western part of the Black Sea and is gradually leaving Crimea.
