Russian forces have halted their offensive on the Lyman direction, as reported by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in their morning briefing on October 18.

Russian invaders continue to unsuccessfully attack positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces on five front segments, and on one more direction, the enemy's assault operations have ceased. On the Kupiansk direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled over 15 enemy attacks in the areas of Synkivka, Ivanivka, and Kyslivka in the Kharkiv oblast and nine more attacks near Nadiya in the Luhansk oblast. Simultaneously, on the Lyman direction, the enemy did not engage in offensive (assault) actions.

"On the Bakhmut direction, the enemy unsuccessfully tried to regain lost ground near Klishchiivka in the Donetsk oblast. Defense forces continue assault operations south of Bakhmut, inflicting losses on the occupiers in personnel and equipment and consolidating their gained positions", - stated the General Staff.

However, on the Avdiivka direction, the enemy continues to make attempts to encircle Avdiivka. Five enemy attacks were repelled here.

On the Marinka and Shakhtarsk directions, Ukrainian defenders repelled more than 20 enemy attacks in the vicinity of Marinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk oblast, as well as two attacks south of Zolota Nyva and south of Prechystovka.

On the Zaporizhzhia direction, the enemy unsuccessfully attempted to restore its lost position southwest of Robotyne.

As previously reported, russia plans to occupy the entire Donetsk oblast by the end of the year.
