The Verkhovna Rada adopted a new law on judicial system and status of judges. 281 MPs voted for the corresponding draft law №4734 in the parliament on Thursday, - reportsUkrainska Pravda.
As deputy head of the Presidential Administration Alexey Filatov explained when introducing the document, the draft law is designed to ensure the future implementation of amendments to the Constitution in terms of justice.
The law particularly enhances responsibility of judges, limits their immunity, eliminates higher specialized courts, establishes a new Supreme Court, provides for the establishment of Supreme Anti-corruption Court and the Supreme Court on intellectual property issues.
