Head of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine, Hugues Mingarelli has stated that Ukraine could not use 8 billion euros of aid that had been allocated to it. He said this at the EU: Future Simple or Future Indefinite conference organized by the European Business Association, - LB.ua reports.
"The EU allocates significant sums to Ukraine to support the reforms, but this money is not always used as best as possible. We need to understand the fact that most of the allocated funds are not used at all for a number of reasons. We counted that 8 billion euros provided by the EU were unused… Before asking for additional money, spend those that are available at first", - Mingarelli said.
The report reminds that on May 21, the IMF mission is expected to arrive in Kyiv, following the results of which Ukraine can receive the second tranche under the new stand-by program.
