Deputy Minister for Temporary Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine Heorhiy Tuka stated that it is possible to prove that Russia sells coal from CDDLO to Europe. He stated this on the air of 5 Channel.

"For example, the slabs produced by the Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works have their own unique melting, and it is impossible to pass them off as others. Similarly, coal has its own distinct chemical composition. But the Donbass basin is located on the border of the two states and some of the mines located in the Rostov region actually have the same chemical composition. Therefore, one should consult the Ministry of Energy, whether we can prove the place of origin of such coal by means of chemical analyzes", - Tuka said.

According to him, it is necessary to look at the documents of the coal.

"If, for example, this coal is sold according to the documents of the Kuznetsk coal basin, it will be very easy to investigate. If they pass it off as the Rostov’s coal, it will be more difficult, but I do not think that it is impossible", - the deputy minister believes.

As previously reported, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Mining of Ukraine sent a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a request to warn eight countries about the risk of illegal supplies of coal from the occupied territories. The Ministry of Energy proposed to send information on options and possibilities for identifying coal from the occupied territories to the Ukrainian embassies in Turkey, the Netherlands, Spain, Moldova, Bulgaria, Belgium, Poland and Romania to take all possible measures to inform local ports, customs authorities, existing and potential buyers. This letter was prepared on the proposal of DTEK Energo, which, since March 2017, lost control of coal enterprises in the occupied territories and requested diplomatic support in solving the problem of illegal sale of their products in other countries. "Proceeding from the information stated in the letter, illegally extracted coal of the said enterprises is illegally exported to the territory of Russia and then shipped to the territory of other countries", - the letter said. The Ministry of Energy also noted that this problem of illegal coal sales also concerns the state mines seized in the occupied territories.
