“During the night of September 1, the enemy once again attacked the capital. Civilian infrastructure and residential areas of the capital came under attack”, - the Kyiv State Emergency Service reported.
The Darnytskyi district: fires broke out at two locations as a result of strikes. Seven people were killed, and another person is in serious condition in hospital. The fire has been extinguished.
At another address, 2 people were injured by the blast wave, one of them a child.
The Holosiivskyi district: a non-residential building was hit. A fire covering an area of 40 sq. m was extinguished, and one person was killed.
The Solomianskyi district: a UAV struck a residential building, causing partial structural damage. Firefighters rescued a man and freed a woman from under the rubble. The injured were handed over to emergency medical personnel.
As reported by Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, chairman of the Ukrainian Railways board, 7 of those killed were company employees.
“Overnight ballistic strikes on Kyiv were deliberately aimed at a railway depot and other railway facilities. The ballistic strike claimed the lives of 7 people, 6 of whom were our employees. One colleague is in hospital with injuries — our people are with him, and he is receiving all the necessary medical assistance. Dozens managed to escape to shelters; we are helping them recover”, - Oleksandr Pertsovskyi reported.
According to him, the attack caused significant destruction. In particular, one of the workshops was completely destroyed, and efforts to extinguish the fires are continuing.
“Traffic was closed on two sections of track, but has now been restored… But all of this is nothing compared with the terrible loss of our colleagues. We are contacting their loved ones. Everyone is by their side to help them get through this incredibly difficult time. A night bitter beyond words”, - he noted.
