"Employees of the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police, and the Office of the Prosecutor General detained a man suspected of murdering Member of Parliament Andrii Parubiy", - the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) reported on its Telegram channel at 0:27 on September 1.
It is noted that the suspect was detained in the Khmelnytsky oblast.
"According to the investigation, the assassination of the Member of Parliament was carefully prepared in advance: the perpetrator studied the victim’s travel schedule, mapped out the route, and prepared an escape plan. Thanks to the coordinated actions of the SBU and the National Police, within 24 hours of the attack, investigators were able to track down the direct trail of the suspect, and within 36 hours — detain him. The crime’s exposure and the detention were under the personal supervision of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky", - the statement also says.
The SBU also reported that law enforcement will provide additional information on the further progress of the investigation.
Investigative actions are ongoing.
