The Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Station (HPP), the largest hydroelectric power station in Ukraine located in the city of Zaporizhzhia, suffered significant damage as a result of russian strikes on the night of March 22nd. This was stated by the director of Ukrhydroenergo Ihor Syrotа during an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

According to Syrotа, there were two direct hits on the Dnipro HPP. The second energy block of the station, HPP-2, is in a "critical condition", and it is uncertain whether it will be able to operate. "We are losing the station", - Syrotа said.

He specified that one missile hit the support of HPP-2, causing damage to the crane girders. The machine room and equipment were also destroyed. HPP-1 also suffered damage.

A fire broke out at the station after the missile strikes. Rescue workers and power engineers are working at the scene.
