In the so-called "DNR", it has been reported that russian investors have shown interest in the "Shakhtarska-Hlyboka" coal mine in the eastern occupied part of the Donetsk oblast.

Bogdan Rusanov, the chief engineer of the mine, told local media: "Investors from Russia are interested in our mine, but there are no specifics yet; the matter is still being worked out". He acknowledged that there is no talk of significant investments at this time.

As previously reported, russia's Ministry of Energy plans to reduce the number of active coal mines to fifteen in the occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts. Before 2014, there were 94 mines operating solely in the Donetsk oblast.
