The European Union is falling behind in its plans to provide Ukraine with one million artillery shells by March. Bloomberg reported this on October 26th, citing its own sources.

According to the reports, the initiative has so far reached only about 30% of its goal, and based on the volume of contracts signed to date, it risks falling short of its target.

According to plans developed earlier this year, the EU promised to supply artillery ammunition to Ukraine over the course of 12 months, initially using existing stockpiles and later through joint procurement contracts and increased industrial capacity.

According to the media reports, the United States, aiming to increase its own production to around one million shells per year by 2024, has called on the EU to step up its efforts.

As previously reported, President Biden has requested over $60 billion in military aid for Ukraine from Congress.
