President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Roman Bezsmertnyi from the post of representative of Ukraine in a subgroup at the talks in Minsk. The relevant decree No.596/2019 was posted on the website of the head of state.

"On partial amendment of Article 1 of the Decree of the President of Ukraine of June 19, 2019 No. 414 "Issue of ensuring the representation of Ukraine in the Trilateral Contact Group"(as amended by the Decree of July 9, 2019 No. 504) to relieve Roman Bezsmertnyi of responsibilities to represent Ukraine in the working group on political issues of the Trilateral Contact Group", - the decree said.

As previously reported, after the death of four Ukrainian military soldiers as a result of shelling, representative of Ukraine in the political subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbass Roman Bezsmertnyi stated that Ukraine should have withdrawn from the Minsk process and toughly respond to the enemy provocations. According to him, the return to the Minsk format was to begin only after the meeting of leaders of the Normandy Four. "After the events near Pavlopil (Ukrainian fighters died there – OstroV), it was necessary to clearly state: Ukraine ceases to participate in the Minsk process until the Normandy Four gathers", – Bezsmertnyi stated.

He made it clear that this is his personal point of view, and the official position of Kyiv will be announced on August 21, when the next round of negotiations in Minsk will take place.
