Presidential candidate, leader of the Samopomich (Self Relience) Union Andriy Sadovyi has withdrawn his candidacy in favor of leader of the Civic Position Party, Anatoliy Hrytsenko. He said this during a briefing, - RBC-Ukraine reports.
Sadovyi stated he wants changes in Ukraine.
"I would like to see changes in Ukraine. I want to thank everyone who supports us. Today we have a chance. Our task (of Samopomich, - ed.) is to win parliamentary and local government elections. Now we have a chance to elect a president of Ukraine. I made a decision: I withdraw my candidacy and announce the support of Anatoliy Hrytsenko as candidate for the presidency of Ukraine", - Sadovyi noted.
At the same time, the leader of the Samopomich party stressed that he had no agreements with Hrytsenko.
"A month left until March 31. I understand what a difficult situation is quite well. I see moods in the society. People want it today (unification, - ed.). I would like this decision to give victory for a single candidate very much. I have no agreement with Anatoliy Hrytsenko", - the politician said.
As previously reported, at the congress in Kyiv on January 3, the Samopomich Union political party nominated mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovyi as candidate for the presidential election, which will be held in Ukraine on March 31, 2019.
On January 11, the Civic Position party nominated Anatoliy Hrytsenko as presidential candidate.
