"On Thursday morning, an armed attack took place on the grounds of a Benedictine monastery in the city of Jarosław, Podkarpackie Voivodeship, Poland. A 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen attacked five people with a knife", - the Polish outlet polsatnews.pl reported.
It is noted that four men (including three priests) and one woman were injured. It was initially reported that the condition of three of them was critical. Later, it became known that one of the priests had died.
"The perpetrator of this atrocity must bear full responsibility in accordance with the law. We expect a prompt and thorough investigation into all the circumstances. It is painful that people are capable of committing such terrible crimes. Justice must prevail", - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the incident.
The head of state expressed his deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of the person killed in the attack and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
