Following talks with U.S. President Donald Trump on September 22, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine was ready to stop strikes on russia’s energy infrastructure provided that moscow reciprocates. Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s Telegram channel reports this.
Zelensky also said that Ukraine wants to obtain licenses to produce Patriot systems.
“We asked the U.S. president to help us speed up this process. He is positive about the issue of the licenses”, - Zelensky said.
In addition, Zelensky said that Trump could organize a trilateral meeting of the leaders of the United States, Ukraine and russia to discuss the most difficult issues and the possible end of the war.
“I am ready to meet with putin at any time”, - the Ukrainian president stressed.
Speaking about putin, Zelensky said that he was not achieving victory on the battlefield and therefore had to demonstrate successes to russian society.
“Putin is not winning on the battlefield. This is a problem for him because he needs to show something to his society. It is not about us, not about the Americans, not about the Ukrainians. He respects no one. He is concerned about russians. He is afraid only of his own people”, - Zelensky said.
Earlier the same day, speaking at the UN General Assembly, Trump said he was ready to use new powers to impose tough sanctions and tariffs against russia, provided for by Senator Lindsey Graham’s bill, “if necessary”, - the report notes.
