“Yes, we saw it. In general, we certainly consider this a very good idea, a good initiative. We are in contact with the Americans. We have always been on the side of peaceful solutions”, - the kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists, as quoted by the BBC.
Ensuring the safe operation of oil refineries and increasing the volume of petroleum product production does not solve global problems, Peskov added.
“Because the main problem is getting petroleum products onto global markets. It is about ensuring unhindered access for these petroleum products to global markets. And here it is necessary to ensure safe commercial navigation, safe passage at sea for oil tankers”, - Peskov said.
The report recalls that the previous day, U.S. President Donald Trump wrote on the Truth Social social network: “Ukraine agreed not to strike russian energy facilities. Russia agreed to do the same!”
Unlike Peskov, Trump claimed that the rise in global diesel fuel prices was “caused mainly by the war between russia and Ukraine, rather than the situation with Iran”.
As of September 15, neither moscow nor Kyiv had confirmed the U.S. president’s statement.
