The European Union has approved financial assistance to Ukraine amounting to 50 billion euros. This was reported by the BBC.

"The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced that the 27 EU countries have agreed to provide financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 50 billion euros", - the statement said.

It is worth noting that earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban opposed the package.

Charles Michel commented on the newly approved financial aid package for Ukraine, designed for several years, stating: "This locks in steadfast, long-term, predictable funding for Ukraine. The EU is taking leadership & responsibility in support for Ukraine; we know what is at stake".
