The "DNR" has "officially" allowed residents of the occupied part of the Donetsk oblast, including Ukrainian citizens and russian occupiers, to participate in the russian presidential elections. This was announced in a special video address by the head of the "election commission of the DNR" Vladimir Vysotsky.

He explained that the main task is to give the opportunity for all residents of the occupied part of the Donetsk oblast to vote. To achieve this, the decision was made to allow almost anyone who wishes to obtain a ballot.

In theory, only russian citizens can vote for the president of the russian federation. A somewhat logical exception was made for the "citizens" of the never officially existing "Donetsk People's Republic".

Additionally, occupiers allowed people to vote using Ukrainian passports, meaning people who still remain citizens of Ukraine and do not have russian citizenship.

Even russian occupiers who have no connection to Donbas will not be left without ballots. They can vote using military IDs, soldier's or officer's identity documents.

Vysotsky referred to this approach to voting as "non-trivial".
