The International Court of Justice has recognized that russia violated the UN anti-terrorism agreement. The ICJ's decision was reported by UNN on January 31, citing The Guardian.

"The court finds that Russia has breached some obligations under the UN anti-terrorism agreement by failing to investigate the financial support for separatist groups in eastern Ukraine in 2014", - states the judgment of the International Court.

It is emphasized that the court did not award compensation, as Ukraine had requested.

The highest UN court refused to make a specific ruling regarding russia's likely responsibility for the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014, as Kyiv had requested.

Ukraine filed a lawsuit against russia for violating the Convention on the Suppression of Financing of Terrorism and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination in the ICJ on January 16, 2017.

Earlier reports stated that the investigation into the MH17 case was suspended in February 2023.
