Kuwait will transfer 100 M-84AV tanks to Ukraine through Croatia, as reported by the Croatian media Tvfront, citing its own sources.
It is noted that the tanks will soon be delivered to the workshops of the Croatian arms conglomerate Đuro Đaković, where they will undergo a major overhaul. After that, they will be sent to Ukraine.
"The Kuwaiti army does not need these tanks (they are in storage) since it has 218 M1A2 Abrams tanks of American production", - the media writes.
The M-84AV is a Yugoslav licensed version of the Soviet T-72M tank. Kuwait ordered 200 tanks in 1989 from Yugoslavia, but by the beginning of the series of conflicts that led to the breakup of Yugoslavia into separate countries, they received 149 units. In total, Kuwait can provide Ukraine with between 75 and 100 vehicles. Croatia was chosen as an intermediary because it has preserved a large number of spare parts for this type of equipment since the time of Yugoslavia.
