European Council President Charles Michel stated that the EU is confident Ukraine will receive financial assistance despite Hungary's veto, according to European Pravda.

"We are still capable of making unanimous decisions. It is always challenging. But now we have built almost a unanimous decision, except for one vote", - he said.

However, Charles Michel is confident that Ukraine will still receive the funds.

"We have the tools to ensure that Ukraine can count on our support; there is strong political will among 26 leaders to accept this 'mega-package'. And this is the signal we want to send to Ukraine", - he declared.

Michel declined to specify whether the EU would bypass Orban's veto (EU countries have the ability to do so in financial matters), but he emphasized that the EU would fulfill its financial commitments to aid Ukraine.

"We have various tools to ensure that we fulfill our political promise", - the politician stated.

As reported earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban refused to approve the EU budget decision that would have included a financial aid program of 50 billion euros for Ukraine.
