Detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), with the approval of the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP), have notified the former ultimate beneficial owner of PrivatBank and five members of the organized group associated with him of suspicion in embezzling funds from the bank totaling over 9.2 billion hryvnias. This was reported by the NABU Telegram channel.

The NABU does not mention the surname of the main suspect, but it is evident that this refers to Ihor Kolomoisky.

"The investigation has established that in January-March 2015, the ultimate beneficiary of the bank, at that time, the Chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast State Administration, developed a plan to appropriate funds from PrivatBank with the aim of further financing a controlled offshore company and increasing his own stake in the bank's authorized capital. To achieve this, the bank was artificially obliged to pay over 9.2 billion hryvnias to the said controlled company under the pretext of allegedly repurchasing its own bonds at an inflated value", - the statement said.

It was previously reported that the Security Service of Ukraine announced that Kolomoisky has been served with suspicion.
