OSCE is considering the possibility to send a police mission to Donbass in the case of local elections. It was stated by OSCE General Secretary Lamberto Zannier in his interview with AP, - reports the Ukrainska Pravda.

"It would be a police operation which could help maintain law and order in the area and provide a secure environment for the elections," - said the Secretary General.

According to Zannier, OSCE is ready to send hundreds of police officers, probably armed, to provide a secure environment in the voting places.

The Secretary General added that the mission could work with "local police in Donetsk and Luhansk regions in order to prevent the activity of criminals and help international organizations to observe the elections." The mission will be possible only with the consent of both sides to cease fire.

"It's a complicated scenario, but it is exactly what we can do if all agree," – said Zannier.

As previously reported, on April 3rd President Petro Poroshenko said that the elections on the occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions there had to be full ceasefire and presence of OSCE police mission. At the same time, militants are strongly against police mission on the occupied territory.
