Press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov evaded a direct answer to the question on granting Russian citizenship to former President and Prime Minister of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych and Nikolay Azarov.

As reported by Russian Tass, Peskov could not confirm the relevant information of Transparency International.

"I can not (confirm this information - Ed.). I did not think that Transparency International is engaged in granting Russian citizenship and has information in this respect," - he said.

As previously reported, on April 26th Transparency International Russia published the Yanukovich and Azarov in Russia envistigation in the framework of the Unmask the Corrupt campaign. It notes that "many facts indicate that Yanukovych and Azarov have received Russian citizenship and are now protected by the state."
