The Government of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (ChRI), acting abroad, appealed to the President of Ukraine, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and the Prime Minister of Ukraine to recognize the independence of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria. This was announced and read out by Chairman of the Government of the ChRI Akhmed Zakayev and State Minister of the ChRI Abdul Ortakhanov.

"The ChRI government appeals to the leadership of Ukraine with a request to recognize the independence of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria. The recognition by the leadership of Ukraine of the state independence of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria will be another political victory for Ukraine against russia. Let's fight together for your and our freedom", - the appeal says.

Abdul Ortakhanov, who read it on behalf of the government, noted that "the ChRI government under the leadership of Akhmet Zakayev, acting abroad, observing the continuity of power… As well as the State Committee for the De-occupation of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, acting abroad, unanimously decided to appeal to the President of the Verkhovna Rada and the government of Ukraine with the statement".

The appeal recalls that the Chechen people had peacefully proclaimed the state independence of the Chechen Republic in 1990-1991.

"Currently, the ChRI is occupied by Russia, where most severe regime of suppressing the will of the people is establishedople", - Ortakhanov read out.

"We are ready to help the people of Ukraine by all permitted ways and means, both diplomatic and by direct participation in the fight against the Russian aggressor in the name of establishing peace in the holy land of Ukraine", - the document says.

Abdula Ortakhanov stated that the government of the ChRI had prepared a package of documents for submission to the above-mentioned institutions of power. Documents on the official recognition of the ChRI by Russia and Georgia, which were made in the 90s, are among them.

In turn, head of the ChRI government Akhmed Zakayev stated: "We really hope that our request will be granted and Ukraine will recognize the independence of the Chechen state. After that, we intend to send the same packages of documents to other countries and states, so that they recognize our independence".

Zakayev stated that the recognition of the ChRI would be the beginning of the dismantling of the Russian Federation.

"The whole world has recognized the danger of the existence of this country as a state entity. Therefore, I am sure that the beginning of the dismantling of this country, a non-state, this terrorist organization called Russian Federation - it should not exist. And the dismantling of this state is the business of the entire civilized world. And we must start with the de-occupation of the Chechen Republic, and then all other occupied territories and all peoples and republics that are now in colonial dependence on Russia must be liberated", - Zakayev said.

"I am sure that today, the world will really put an end to these catastrophes and tragedies that humanity is experiencing from the side of the so-called state", - the head of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria summed up.

Abdula Ortakhanov also thanked all Ukrainians who signed a petition to the President of Ukraine to recognize the state sovereignty of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria and establish diplomatic relations with it. By the evening of October 17, the petition had already collected more than 24 thousand signatures out of 25 thousand required for the President of Ukraine to respond to it.
