The unification of the so-called "republics of Donbas" into a single "state" is not planned. This was stated by leader of the "LNR" Leonid Pasechnik in an interview with one of the Russian media.
Commenting on the creation of the so-called "common customs space" within the occupied Donbas, the collaborator noted that this step did not lead to the unification of the "DNR" and "LNR" into a single "state".
"There has been no talk of the administrative unification of the republics. To put it simply, the creation of a "common economic and customs space" is not a union into one republic. In the EU, given the same economic and other standards, there is no talk of the unification of Belgium and France. Why should we have it? The LNR and DNR are fraternal republics, and our brotherhood is sealed with blood", - he stated pathetically.
Pasechnik assures Russian readers that the competition between CADO and CALO is very useful. "The competition for leadership in the Donbas between Luhansk and Donetsk has been going on for more than a hundred years. It was the competition that gave the greatest results, so why to destroy it?"
But the unification of the two "republics", in his opinion, will not bring any benefit. "The first and main criterion for this kind of action is the interests of the residents. And they do not have this question. There are issues of security, economic recovery, social protection and so on. None of them is solved by the unification of the republics, but for some reason, it is very worrisome for someone from the outside. Such decisions should be beneficial to both parties and not infringe on anyone's interests. Leave the right to make such decisions to those who live here", - the leader of the "LNR" tried to represent the puppet formations as "people's republics".
