Ukraine is developing an economic strategy for the development of Donbass. Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov stated this in his article for the American Atlantic Council think tank, - LB.UA reports.
"This approach is perhaps best described as a Ukrainian approach to the concept of "special status" for a region with the aim of transforming the investment environment and introducing a new economic model at the regional level", - Oleksii Reznikov writes.
According to him, the presentation of the roadmap may take place in September.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the reintegration of Donbass means a transition from a war with Russia to European opportunities.
"We believe that the reintegration of Donbass means a transition from a war with Russia to European opportunities. Just as European investments turned the nineteenth-century Donbass into one of the continent's industrial engines, so a second wave of international engagement in eastern Ukraine could create a new era of growth opportunities", - the official notes.
Reznikov called on international investors, together with the Ukrainian government, to join the process of rebuilding the region.
He expressed confidence that it would be possible to talk about the reunification of the occupied territories and their restoration in the future, starting from the part of Donbass controlled by Kyiv.
"Constant financial injections from the state budget of Ukraine and current donor assistance will be of decisive importance in this process", - the vice-premier writes.
According to him, the Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories is already actively working to attract foreign aid.
