The Verkhovna Rada has appointed Iryna Venedyktova as Prosecutor General of Ukraine at an extraordinary session on March 17, - correspondent of OstroV reports.
269 people's deputies voted for the corresponding decision.
"I promise not to sell cases, not to leak them, not to return the dirty prosecutors… Justice should be in our state every day, and we will resume it", - I.Venedyktova said, speaking in the VR.
Answering a people's deputy's question about the prospect of cases against Petro Poroshenko, she replied: "Everything that can be quickly and legally completed will be quickly and legally completed".
"There is no political repression in Ukraine, but the thief should be in prison", - she said.
Iryna Venedyktova is lawyer, ex-MP from Servant of the People, was appointed interim acting director of the State Bureau of Investigation from December 27, 2019.
