The newly elected deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation took the oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine, - correspondent of OstroV reports.

By tradition, the oath was read out by the oldest deputy - representative of the Opposition Platform - For Life Yuliy Ioffe.

The ceremonial meeting was opened by speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of the 8th convocation Andriy Parubiy. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and members of the government, former presidents of Ukraine and foreign guests attend the meeting.

After taking the oath, the newly elected deputies will sign the text of the oath and receive deputy certificates, special badges and voting cards.

The first working meeting of the Verkhovna Rada will begin today at 13-00.

Early parliamentary election was held on July 21. As a result, the Servant of the People party will be represented in the Verkhovna Rada of the 9th convocation by 254 deputies, Opposition Platform - For Life - by 43, Batkivshchyna - by 26, European Solidarity - by 25, Voice - by 20, as well as self-nominated candidates.
