Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak has arrived to the Presidential Administration of Ukraine on the call of President Volodymyr Zelensky. Poltorak told this to reporters near the Presidential Administration building, - UNIAN writes.
He noted that he had told Zelensky about the decision to resign from the post of head of the Ministry of Defence on May 19. "I could not write it (resignation letter - ed.) before, because Volodymyr Zelensky became president only yesterday, after the inauguration. I waited until he took the oath to the people of Ukraine and submitted the report on dismissal", - he added.
Poltorak noted that he had arrived to the Presidential Administration because the President had called him there.
As previously reported, on May 6, Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak expressed his willingness to report to newly elected President Volodymyr Zelensky about the state of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and reforms implemented in the defense sphere. On May 20, Poltorak sent a resignation report to President Zelensky.
