The Verkhovna Rada has adopted the law on the functioning of Ukrainian language as a state in virtually all spheres of public life. The law was supported by 278 people's deputies.
Today, the Verkhovna Rada has adopted the law on Ukrainian language No. 5670-d.
The Parliament Speaker Andriy Parubiy noted that President Poroshenko had promised to sign this document.
The document aims to regulate the use of Ukrainian language as a state language in public spheres of social life. The law will not apply to the language of religious ceremonies and to the sphere of private communication between individuals.
The document will regulate the use of Ukrainian language as language of citizenship of Ukraine, as well as its application in the activities of state authorities, authorities of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, local governments in Ukraine, state and municipal enterprises, institutions and organizations, other business entities of state and municipal ownership.
The use of Ukrainian language in public spheres is also provided: in education and science; in the field of electronic information systems; in customer service; in the sphere of culture, on television and radio broadcasting, in print media, in book publishing and book distribution; in the field of sports, telecommunications and postal services, legal services, health care, transport; in the designation of toponyms, in advertising, in the manufacture of signs and tablets; in the activities of public associations, political parties, business entities of private ownership, providing information about their products and services.
