The privatization of coal mines is not possible, because the mines are in debt. This was stated by Minister of Energy and Coal Industry Vladimir Demchishin at the meeting of the profile parliamentary committee today, - according toRBK-Ukraina.
"Privatization des not take place, as the mines are in debt, it is not possible to write them off. It’s also not possible to separate some mines and privatize them. In addition, investment climate, war, risks with sales talk about the impossibility of privatization at the moment," - he said.
According to him, there is an opportunity to attract investors to finance specific longwalls, but its’ needed to establish clear rules and calculate the economic effect for the investor and for the mine in order to balance its financial position for the six months or a year.
Demchishin also added that there are 9 such promising longwalls and there are already investors who are interested in such projects as Selidougol, Lvovugol and two south Donbass mines.
