Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Mykhailo Fedorov's dismissal was driven by the need to improve the effectiveness of the entire governance system under wartime conditions, rather than by an assessment of one individual's performance. The head of state said this in an interview with Sky News.
According to Zelensky, he respects both Fedorov and former Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, but the success of military operations is the result of the joint work of many institutions.
The president noted that strikes against targets on the territory of russia are carried out through the combined efforts of intelligence agencies, special services, military units, and the command.
When asked by the journalist about Fedorov's possible return to office, Zelensky did not give a direct answer.
At the same time, he stressed that he does not intend to allow internal conflicts between officials to influence decision-making in the defense sector.
"I don't have time for talks or negotiations. I don't have time to listen to one side first and then the other, because the two sides are not prepared to meet every day. And I don't need to determine which of them is right and which is wrong", - the president said.
According to Zelensky, Ukraine now needs a new approach to mobilization, unity between the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense, as well as the continued development of its missile defense system.
At the same time, the head of state emphasized that despite the importance of developing drone technologies, they cannot fully replace servicemembers on the front line.
"If you don't have soldiers on the front line, you will lose one territory, then lose a village, and after the village, you will lose a city", - Zelensky said.
