“Emergency crews of energy workers in the Chernihiv oblast are unable to start work on restoring power supply because of ongoing attacks by russian drones. The russians are deliberately launching unmanned aerial vehicles that continuously circle over the damaged sites, making it impossible to carry out the work safely and intentionally prolonging the humanitarian crisis”, - reads the statement from Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy, published on the ministry’s Telegram channel on October 21.

It is noted that the day before, the russians struck civilian energy infrastructure in the Chernihiv oblast. The city of Chernihiv and the entire northern part of the oblast are completely without power. Tens of thousands of Ukrainian families have been left without electricity. Repair crews are fully prepared to restore light to Ukrainian homes as quickly as possible. However, the enemy is deliberately preventing this.

“This is a deliberate act of terrorism. There are no military targets in the area of the affected energy facilities. Russia is deliberately striking infrastructure on which the lives of ordinary people depend. Against the backdrop of these barbaric actions, statements by the russian leadership claiming that their targets are exclusively military look especially deceitful. The strike on Chernihiv’s energy system, which left hundreds of thousands of people without power, is direct proof that russia’s true goal is the genocide of the Ukrainian people. ...Energy workers will do everything possible and impossible to restore power supply in the shortest possible time”, - the statement also says.
