"It is too early to draw far-reaching conclusions about the outcome of the upcoming negotiations in Budapest on the peaceful settlement of the war in Ukraine", - said Oleg Karpovich, Vice-Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of the russian Foreign Ministry.
"Firstly, there is some surprise at Trump’s newly voiced idea to cease fighting along the current line of contact. Russia has repeatedly emphasized that the issue of control over the territories enshrined in the Constitution is considered one of the key ones, and no one intends to abandon them for the sake of some illusory possibility of a ceasefire", - the press service of the aggressor state's Foreign Ministry quoted him as saying.
Secondly, the diplomat stated that the kremlin does not see any "pressure from the United States on Kyiv regarding guarantees of the rights of russian-speaking residents of Ukraine and the canonical Orthodox Church, and without fulfilling this condition, halting the special operation seems unrealistic".
If U.S. President Donald Trump does not force Ukraine to unconditionally accept the russian ultimatum, the Vice-Rector concluded, "Moscow’s diplomatic offensive will be accompanied by an increase in the pace of the special military operation and will not stop until the tasks set by the president are resolved both at the negotiating table and on the battlefield".
It was previously reported that kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the russian federation does not intend to end hostilities along the current line of contact.
