“Belarus has offered EU countries to begin talks on normalizing relations in order to emerge from the political isolation the country has been in since 2020, sources among European diplomats told Reuters”, - reports the Telegram channel “The Moscow Times”.

According to the sources, at the end of September, the Belarusian embassy in Paris sent emails to the embassies of several countries, requesting meetings with the republic’s ambassador to the Vatican, Yury Ambrazevich. The letters noted that he informally oversees the coordination of Belarusian diplomatic contacts in Western Europe.

“Several European diplomats agreed to meet. According to one of them, Ambrazevich tried to make it clear that Minsk seeks to emerge from political isolation and can assist in resolving the military conflict between russia and Ukraine, as well as in possible future negotiations on European security”, - the report says.

It is noted that the Belarusian embassy confirmed to Reuters the distribution of letters requesting meetings, emphasizing that this is a “standard diplomatic practice”. One of Reuters’ interlocutors remarked that Minsk sensed the opportunity for sanctions relief opened by U.S. President Donald Trump and decided to seize the moment. “They say they do not want an escalation of the conflict, so now they want to have an open discussion with other states and emphasize their differences from russia”, - another source from the agency said.
