"Over the past few days, the enemy has destroyed two transformer substations that supplied our city. This is a serious blow to the capacities of JSC 'Kharkivoblenergo'. And judging by the dynamics of the attacks, it is already clear that the coming winter will be the hardest for Kharkiv in all the years of the war", - said Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov on October 6.
At the same time, he emphasized that while around 22,000 households were left without electricity at night, now that number is about 3,500.
"Such progress was achieved thanks to the round-the-clock and well-coordinated work of the energy specialists and the Kharkiv utility services, who joined efforts to provide all residents of Kharkiv with stable electricity and utility services", - the mayor noted.
"Yes, the city has its capabilities, 'Oblenergo' has resources, and the national power system has capacity — but they are limited. And we must face the truth: russia will not stop its attempts at terror; it will continue trying to take the lives of our people, plunging them into cold and darkness. At any moment, a new strike on critical infrastructure may occur, capable of destroying in seconds what we have built and restored for months. And such situations, unfortunately, have happened more than once in the past and are happening now. Therefore, we must always be ready for anything", - Terekhov said.
"After every new strike, we repair boiler houses, fix heating networks, water pipelines, and restore generation. And we will keep doing this again and again — as long as necessary to ensure that Kharkiv residents have light, heat, and water in their homes, so that Kharkiv lives, works, and remains strong", - emphasized the Mayor of Kharkiv.
