Shmyhal noted that on May 9 in Lviv, a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the EU member states is taking place; the signing of an agreement on directing funds from russian assets to support Ukrainian defense; and a meeting of the Coalition of States to establish a Special Tribunal for the crime of aggression against Ukraine.
"At the joint press briefing together with the EU High Representative Kaja Kallas and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, we spoke about these events and thanked the entire united Europe for its support and solidarity. Ukraine highly values the EU's military support totaling about 50 billion euros and welcomes new European defense initiatives: the intention to supply 2 million artillery shells to Ukraine, the ReArm Europe plan, and the SAFE instrument", - Shmyhal stated.
He also expressed gratitude for 50 billion euros in budgetary support from the EU and for 16 sanctions packages against russia.
"We have an ambitious goal this year to open negotiations on accession to the European Union across all 6 main clusters. We are doing everything to become part of the EU immediately after the war ends. Together we are strong, together we will endure and win", - Shmyhal emphasized.
