The kremlin’s announcement of a temporary “truce” has nothing to do with humanitarian goals. Political expert Andrii Horodnytskyi said this in a comment to OstroV.
“Putin is worried that a missile or drone might hit his not-so-pleasant face. Putin does what benefits him; he’s not interested in saving the lives of russian soldiers. No one declares a three-day truce just to throw a ‘party’. This is done to avoid a strike on the kremlin when high-ranking guests arrive”, - he said.
According to him, it’s a way to ensure his own safety and show guests that he has some control.
“And all these nuclear threats, particularly from medvedev – it’s just a sign that russia is weak and incapable of negotiating by other means. This is how they reveal their weakness”, - Andrii Horodnytskyi noted.
He emphasized that Ukraine, in contrast, is proposing a truce for a month.
“We are taking the initiative. In recent months, Ukraine has been leading the information space. And we are currently winning the diplomatic war”, - the political expert believes.
