The shelling of Kharkiv on March 22 resulted in the destruction of energy facilities, and currently, Kharkiv's electricity supply is being provided by other regions. This was reported to Suspilne by the representative of TPP-5, Nataliia Verbova.

According to her, the most significant damage from the massive russian attack was inflicted on TPP-5. Therefore, the city's power supply is being maintained by the efforts of other regions.

"The full extent of the damage to the thermal power plant and the necessary restoration work can only be assessed after the completion of the inspection and clearing of the debris. However, according to energy experts, it is already clear today that this is an extremely laborious and costly process, comparable to new construction", - she explained.

At the same time, the director of TPP-5, Oleksandr Minkovych, stated that to restore the plant, exclusive equipment for power units, particularly turbines and generators, needs to be manufactured.

"In the case of full funding for the work, assistance with the production and delivery of equipment, the reconstruction process will take more than one year", - he said.

As reported, as of March 24, up to 200,000 subscribers in Kharkiv were left without electricity.
