The UN General Assembly has adopted an updated resolution condemning serious violations by russia of the rights of civilian hostages and the deportation of Ukrainian children from the occupied territories. This was announced on December 20 by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, on social media.

"I welcome the updated UN General Assembly resolution, which condemns serious human rights violations by russia, in particular, calling on it to stop forced deportations and ensure the safe return of all Ukrainian children and civilian hostages", - he wrote.

According to Kuleba, these are among the most horrific crimes that need to be stopped.

The day before, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, stated that the UN had documented 142 cases of executions of civilians by russians in the occupied territories.

"On the occupied territory, we have documented very widespread torture and cruel treatment of detainees, including sexual violence, as well as a large number of enforced disappearances", - the statement on the UN website said.

According to the organization, most of these civilians were killed in the areas of the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia oblasts near the front line.

As reported, the deportation of more than 19.5 thousand Ukrainian children to russia has been confirmed.
