The decision to begin negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova for EU membership was reached in Brussels during the European Union summit, as announced by the European Council President, Charles Michel, on social media.

"The European Council has decided to start negotiations on the accession of Ukraine and Moldova", - the publication states.

Michel added that candidate status for EU membership was also granted to Georgia, and the EU will commence negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina for accession once the necessary level of compliance with membership criteria is achieved.

As reported earlier, the European Council recommended expediting military support for Ukraine and initiating official negotiations on joining the EU.
