The russian army continues to develop several offensive directions in the east of Ukraine in the areas of Vuhledar, Kreminna and Bakhmut. This was reported by the British Ministry of Defense on Twitter on February 20.
As noted in the report, the losses of rashists remain high, especially in Bakhmut and Vuhledar. In particular, the elite 1155th and 40th Marine Brigades suffered very heavy losses at Vugledar and are most likely ineffective in combat.
As the anniversary of the invasion draws near, russian forces are likely to come under increasing political pressure, according to British intelligence.
"It is likely that russia will claim that Bakhmut was captured in connection with the anniversary, regardless of the reality on the ground", - the statement said.
At the same time, if the russian spring offensive does not bring results, then tensions within the russian leadership are likely to increase, - the British Ministry of Defense notes.
