At the initiative of the Ukrainian party, a set of measures will be implemented aimed at excluding the Russian Federation from the UN Security Council and from the United Nations as a whole. This is said in the official statement of the MFA of Ukraine.

It notes that in the face of a full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine and Moscow's aggressive policy, Russia's actions will inevitably discredit and destroy the entire UN system. It's just a matter of time.

Based on this, the Ukrainian MFA suggests that the question of Russia's fate in the UN should be decided in the general context of its responsibility for gross violations of the norms and principles of international law, for war crimes committed by the Russian Federation, crimes against humanity and genocide of the Ukrainian people.

"Ukraine calls on the UN member states to restore the application of the UN Charter in the issue of the legitimacy of the Russian Federation's stay in the UN, to deprive the Russian Federation of the status of a permanent member of the UN Security Council and exclude it from the UN as a whole", - the MFA reports.

According to the Ukrainian side, Moscow illegally takes a place in the organization, since its legitimacy as the legal successor of the USSR raises questions. The Russian Federation has never gone through the legal procedure for acquiring membership in the UN and the UN Security Council. From a legal and political point of view, there can be only one conclusion: Russia is a usurper of the Soviet Union's seat in the UN Security Council and in the UN as a whole. Therefore, the Russian Federation must go through the international legal path of joining the UN, like other countries. In particular, Russia must prove its peacefulness, the requirement for which is contained in paragraph 1 of Art. 4 of the UN Charter.

In this regard, Ukraine initiates a comprehensive process aimed at excluding the aggressor country from the UN and the Security Council.
