The Federation Council has supported the illegal decisions to "join" the occupied territories of Ukraine to the russian federation.
Decisions to "join" the "new subjects of the Federation" into the russian federation were made in gross violation of all international norms and laws of russia itself.
International law does not recognize "referenda" held in the occupied territories. The legislation of Ukraine, in turn, does not provide for holding local referendums on the issues of changing the borders of the state and violating its territorial integrity.
