Pro-Russian blogger Anatoly Shariy, whom the Security Service of Ukraine suspects of high treason, has been detained in Spain. This was reported by the SBU telegram channel.
"Law enforcement agencies of Spain detained A. Shariy on May 4, 2022. This became possible thanks to the close interaction of the Security Service of Ukraine with the Office of the Prosecutor General, international partners and as a result of a multi-level special operation of Ukrainian law enforcement officers. This detention is another evidence that every traitor to Ukraine will sooner or late receive a deserved punishment, it is inevitable", - the message says.
The SBU recalled that the Ukrainian special service suspects A. Shariy of committing crimes under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: art. 111 (High treason); Art. 161 (Violation of the equality of citizens depending on their race, nationality, religious beliefs, disability and other characteristics).
According to SBU investigators, Anatoly Shariy carried out illegal activities to the detriment of the national security of Ukraine in the information sphere. There is reason to believe that Anatoly Shariy acted on the orders of foreign structures.
"The evidence of the investigation is confirmed by a number of forensic studies, which established that there are facts of his subversive activities against Ukraine in the interviews and speeches of A. Shariy. He was served with charges last year. All the necessary investigative and operational measures are ongoing to ensure that the said person is held accountable for his actions before the law", - the SBU stated.
