Muratov himself previously told that he went to the Donbass in 2014 as part of the so-called "humanitarian convoy" and then stayed in the "LNR". It was noted that he was there until December 2014 and participated on the side of the militants in the battles for the Luhansk airport, as well as for the village of Metalist.

The prosecutor proved in court that in June of the same year, having automatic firearms and special means of destruction with him, the said citizen, together with other members of the battalion, participated in hostilities near the village of Metalist of the Slovianoserbsk district in order to prevent the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from entering the temporarily occupied territory.
