The prosecutor of the Hague court recorded two periods of particularly fierce fighting since the outbreak of the armed conflict in the Donbass: in Ilovaisk in August 2014 and in Debaltseve from January to February 2015. This is stated in the report of the ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda, published on the official website of the court, - UNIAN reports.
In particular, the ICC prosecutor's office established the facts of the military confrontation between the Ukrainian military and the armed forces of the Russian Federation. According to the report, the preliminary investigation found that the armed groups of the "DNR" and "LNR" "are sufficiently organized to be considered as parties to non-international armed conflict".
At the same time, it is reported about the possibility of considering the confrontation in the east of Ukraine as an international conflict.
"The Office of the Prosecutor also provided additional information indicating the existence of a direct military confrontation between the armed forces of the Russian Federation and Ukraine, which implies that, at the latest since July 14, 2014, in parallel with the non-international armed conflict in the east of Ukraine, there was an international armed conflict", - the report says.
