Residents of the occupied territories of the Donbass and Crimea will be able to use the visa-free regime with the EU on general grounds. The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine told this to OstroV.

"Citizens of Ukraine permanently residing in the temporarily occupied territories of the Crimea and Donbass, like other citizens of Ukraine, have the right to enjoy the benefits of a visa-free regime with the EU on general terms, if they have a biometric passport of Ukraine and observe other relevant requirements for visa-free travel", - states the reply from the MFA.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that in order to take advantage of the right of visa-free travel to the Schengen zone, citizens of Ukraine need to have a foreign biometric passport.

In addition, one must have documents confirming the purpose of the trip, the place of residence, and the availability of sufficient financial resources for the duration of the stay.

"Citizens will need to purchase a medical insurance policy and liability insurance for the owner of the vehicle - in case of traveling by car", - the MFA reported.

As previously reported, on April 6, 2017, the European Parliament voted to grant visa-free regime to Ukraine.
