“At the first stage, we are providing housing to Mariupol residents aged 80 and over. This issue has been approved by a collegial body, and a separate positive decision has been made for each applicant”, - the occupied city’s “mayor” Anton Koltsov told local journalists.

According to him, within a month, 500 elderly citizens have already received apartments. “It is planned in the near future to cover all those on the waiting list in this category”, - he assured.

If we are to believe the “head of the city”, the remaining Mariupol residents will receive housing in the general queue. According to the Mariupol gauleiter, it is managed automatically by a computer program. The program “compares parameters” of those on the waiting list and the available housing. Within 15 days after an option is found, the citizen is informed about it.

After that, one must come to view the apartment within 30 days. If the citizen does not show up, they are moved to the end of the queue. If the apartment is not liked, it can be refused, but no more than twice.

But even if an apartment seized from someone else suits the new owner, it will be necessary to wait until it is repaired or to carry out the repairs independently.

As reported earlier, the russian authorities have stopped construction in the "DNR" of so-called compensation housing, focusing instead on providing those in need with housing from the so-called “municipal fund”. This fund is formed from apartments confiscated from their legal owners as “ownerless” properties.
